GOV Volleyball Tournament 2018

This year's theme for GOV's 27th Annual Volleyball Tournament plays on the two meanings of the expression "Smash Time". The first, of course, is making use of the volleyball term 'smash' which is a hard hit onto the opponent's court.

The second meaning is a reference to smashing the concept of Time - in other words, time travel. We expect this theme to form the basis of a wide variety of creative and colourful team uniforms to go with some rather hilarious team names!

The use of a word-cloud was intended to cover all the programs available in one place!

Bluesfest School of Music & Art

I was hired to produce some promotional images for musical programs and summer-camps for the Bluesfest School of Music & Art.
Below are some examples of images created for use on Facebook using stock images to advertise to their 1200+ followers.

GOV Volleyball Tournament 2017

The theme of the tournament this year was "Superheroes of the Sesquicentennial" in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. We wanted to inspire the players to channel their own superhero either on the court or at the gala show afterward!

International Academy of Design & Technology Brochures

Bimm's Creative DIrector gave me wide latitude to create a piece that would appeal to young people to promote their Summer Studio and Special Services.

I incorporated stock images and abstract backgrounds to support the information contained.

New Business - MICROGREENS

A client here in Ottawa is starting a business to grow and sell micro-greens - sprouted seeds for use in residential and commercial food products. I consulted with him about how to structure his products and why a clearly understood name and logo were important. Once the logo was approved, we then continued on with brochure design, signage, and package branding.

Microgreens Ottawa - Brochure

The brochure for my client's new business has finally been approved and printed. I designed the logo and guided my client through the process of design and copywriting. My recommendations during the design of this piece included pricing, delivery, variety descriptions and photography.

LIVING ALIGNED - Multi-Branding Project

I just reconnected with this client. We hadn't seen each other since our first meeting in Amsterdam, over 25 years ago. She has a property that she plans to use as a creative workspace, and I suggested that she market each separate element differently, within a cohesive look.
Her business has shifted into overdrive since this project, so her branding has been put on hold. I think we are on the right track though!

Chamber of Commerce logo design

As part of the launch of a re-designed website (which I also designed + managed), I created this logo for the Ontario Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

I was Director of Communications for this volunteer organization devoted to the promotion of LGBT-owned and friendly businesses within Ontario.

The logo was then used in all official materials of the Chamber.

Memory Keys - memory aids for people with memory issues

Memory Keys was a business which developed memory aids for seniors and people with Alzheimer Disease and other memory issues. I created the logo the business aesthetic and helped created the many printed elements that went into a memory package.

Travel B-to-B Advertising Brochure

I was asked to create a Media Brochure for both snail-mail and e-mail distribution. The target audience was businesses who might want to advertise on the new Conxity.com website. Conxity was previously known as Rainbow High Vacations.

This project required me to rework/rewrite much of the text, help the company define advertising packages as well as design and production of the piece.

Kitchen Aid Advertorial in Azure Magazine

While at Harbinger Communications, I was asked to create this advertorial for Kitchen Aid's Ultimate Kitchen Design Contest which appeared in Azure Magazine - a prominent Canadian design and architecture magazine. For this layout, I also had to coordinate colour-correction of images to create a consistent look and feel.
